Tips for Kindergarten Parents
It is important for students to have a strong foundation in reading and kindergarteners spend a lot of time developing these skills.
Here are 5 ways to help build a reading foundation with your child.
- Point out letters in names, places, and things. Have your child identify the letter and its sound.

- Practice reading short sentences together.
- Have your child retell a story after listening to it.
- Ask children these important questions while you are reading and after you finish a story. These questions help your child develop comprehension skills.
