The preschools at Robert H. Jamison and Waverly schools have received the state’s highest rating for quality.

Of the District’s 63 preschool sites, 49 have now earned the maximum five stars from Ohio’s voluntary Step Up to Quality program. The rest will seek to do the same.

Preschool is a critical time for brain formation and development of social skills like communication and teamwork. High-quality preschool helps prepare children for the move to kindergarten and beyond.

CMSD and private providers have formed PRE4CLE to make high-quality preschool available to all 3- and 4-year-olds in the District. The partnership seeks to increase the number of high-quality preschools and make families aware of the opportunity and its importance.

Expanding access to high-quality preschool is a one of the many strategies in The Cleveland Plan, a blueprint for education reform in the city.
