Youth throughout the city are offered the opportunity to attend a week free residential camp. Children do basic camp activities and sports activities. Children live on the grounds from Monday morning to Friday afternoon. All meals are provided. Parents must complete the application/registration process to be considered. (We are currently taking applications at the NRRC now)

Who is eligible?
Any child/youth between the ages 9-13 (must be a City of Cleveland resident)
How long is camp?
One week (Monday-Friday) Children arrive Monday morning and say until Friday afternoon
When should I sign up?
Registration begins….March 1st & ends May 27th
Register at any City of Cleveland Recreation Center (Mon-Fri. 12pm-7:30pm)
Register directly at Camp Forbes (Mon-Fri. 8:30am-4pm)
Space is 1st come ...1st Serve
What will you need to register your child?
Child’s birth certificate
Immunization records (shot records)
Proof of Cleveland residency
Is transportation provided?
We do offer transportation. Transportation is provided through your local City of Cleveland Recreation Center.
Youth can also be dropped off at camp by parents.
What we do at Camp Forbes.
We are a fully functional residential camp. Children are served 3 meals a day plus snacks. They participate in a variety of programs daily. Programs include but are not limited to swimming, boating. hiking, fishing, outdoor sports and games, campfires, arts & crafts, kayaking, sing-a-longs, fitness challenges, archery, Youth Outdoors, and other fun creative activities.
Showagon
Mobile stage unit on wheels, the Showagon rolls into Cleveland neighborhoods with a troupe of young artists who spread their message of love through dancing and singing. Showagon, has had a significant impact on the lives of the many performers who
have graced its’ stage. Children who perform in the program gain self-confidence and growth - (We are currently having auditions for participants interested in performing this summer.

Summer Lunch
Youth ages 17 and under can get a free healthy lunch- Monday - Friday between 12:00pm- 1:00pm
Program Dates/Times: June 6 (Rec centers)/June 13th (Playgrounds) thru August 5th
Lunches normally served between 12 noon and 1 pm but times may vary
Junior Golf
Boys & Girls ages 9-17 learn integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, honesty and perseverance all through the game of golf.
Program Date/Times: June 21 – July 28 (Tues, Wed, Thurs) from 1:30 to 3 pm at
Highland Park Golf Course. Pick-up locations are EBT, Estabrook, Glenville, and Zone

Where is Youth Baseball & Softball offered?
Each (NRRC) Neighborhood Resource & Recreation Center offer a variety of youth baseball and softball programs. Please contact your nearest NRRC or call (216) 664-2346 or (216) 664-2325 and we can assist you with locating the closest facility that can accommodate your need.

City of Cleveland youth ages 17 & under have priority—Priority means if your roster is full, has non-residents, AND there are residents who want to play, the non-residents must be taken off and the resident put on. Residency is defined as where the player lives and goes to school. If a child lives in a suburb and does not attend Cleveland Public Schools, he or she is a non-resident even if his or her other parent/guardian lives in Cleveland.
How long is the Baseball & Softball Season?
We offer a spring season and a summer season. (May-July)
When should I sign up?
Registration starts April 1, 2022 through June 22, 2022
What will you need to register your child?
You will need to complete waiver form, permission slip and contract card with proof of participants age. Proof of age can be verified with a Child’s birth certificate: school record or church record- must be on proper stationary for verification.
Is transportation provided?
Yes, we offer transportation. Transportation is provided through the City of Cleveland Recreation Center that you are participating at. Transportation is provided to games and back.
What are our Youth Baseball Travel & Softball Travel Programs?
Our program offers youth the opportunity to play a variety of teams across the city. Uniforms, transportation and equipment are all provided free of charge. Please see the different leagues we offer:
Spring Youth Baseball Travel League
Ages – Deadline: Ages 9-12, cannot turn 13 before May 2, 2022
(13) Thirteen year olds may participate if they are not ready for Junior Division,
but can’t turn 14 prior to 8/1/22. The Division of Recreation provides the youth with all the necessary play equipment and safety equipment for all programs/activities.
13-year olds may not pitch in the Youth Division.
Program Dates/Times: Monday and Wednesday games at 6:00 p.m.
Mondays and Wednesdays from May 16th - July 13th. Championship, Wed, July 27th
Summer Youth Baseball Travel League

Summer Senior Baseball Travel League
Ages – Deadline: Ages 16-18 cannot turn 19 before May 2, 2022
The Division of Recreation provides the youth with all the necessary play equipment and safety equipment for all programs/activities.
Program Dates/Times: Mondays and Wednesdays from June 6TH - July 18TH.

Senior Girls Fast Pitch Softball Travel League
Ages 15-18, cannot turn 19 before January 1, 2022

Coach Pitch Baseball
Youth learn the fundamentals of the game of baseball and an instructor pitches the ball to the batter. The Division of Recreation provides the youth with all the necessary play equipment and safety equipment for all programs/activities.
Ages 8-10

T-ball

No, transportation will not be provided. Participants will have to find their own means of transportation to Cudell Neighborhood & Resource Center.
What is the High School Summer League?
Summer Program is a six-week basketball program designed for boys and girls in grades 8-11.
At first glance, the Summer Program operates like a summer basketball league. However, the program is structured not only to give high school youth a summer sports activity but offers educational workshops on life skills and a platform to discuss teen issues.
The primary goal is to capture their attention through basketball, then educate them on daily life skills and health issues. Mandatory workshops are scheduled prior to every basketball game. Please see leagues below:

Craft Carnival
Craft Carnival is the first in Cudell Fine Arts summer festival series. This event features a variety of interactive and creative activities presented by the staff and volunteers of Cudell Fine Arts. In the past attendees have enjoyed hands-on activities such as jewelry making, dance, music, paper arts, and painting. This multi-generational event is free and open to everyone for an afternoon of fun!

Bug Fest
This annual event is a celebration of insects and their relatives, and is designed for children of all ages. Bug Fest introduces insects to the community in a friendly way. The festival will include face painting, music, crafts, games and prizes.

Chalk-A-Walk
Chalk-A-Walk is a free community sidewalk drawing event. Participants of all ages and abilities are provided with buckets of chalk, giving everyone the chance to show-off their artistic abilities. Afterwards attendees are invited to watch a performance by Showagon, the City of Cleveland’ traveling theater troupe.
