New Tech West student honored by Lake Erie Monsters

Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013
New Tech West sophomore Terissa Nguyen has been  selected to be honored in the Student Spotlight this month by the Lake Erie Monsters hockey team in Cleveland.
Terissa was nominated for the monthly award, which is sponsored by Cuyahoga Community College, by social studies teacher Melissa M. Svigelj-Smith, who said that Terissa is a very conscientious student in her Honors American History class and that she is "very affable and a positive influence on her peers."
"She takes pride in her work, collaborates well with her peers, participates in class, has excellent attendance, and is always polite and respectful," Svigelj-Smith also wrote in the application.  "Our school follows a project and problem based model of teaching and learning, and Terissa has embraced a growth mindset which propels her to continually strive to be the best,"
The team has awarded Terissa four tickets to a game later this month, when she will be honored for being selected as the student of the month.
