CMSD paid tribute to its legion of volunteers at Tuesday's Board of Education meeting.
The District has nearly 1,400 groups, businesses and individuals registered to provide tutoring and other volunteer assistance in the schools, up from about 900 last year. This year's number includes more than 500 parents.
A reception was held for volunteers before the board meeting at Lincoln-West High School. Those who attended also were recognized at the meeting.
Individuals who have a relationship with a school and want to volunteer there may contact the principal or, at schools with community "wraparound" services, the site coordinator. Volunteers who want to be referred to a school can call Judith Lozada, manager of volunteer services, at 216-838-0337.
