In Investment Schools across the District, there is a group of students known as the "Student Learning Community," "Student Learning Council," or simply "SLC."

The SLC helps make important decisions for its school, much like a student council. The group usually meets weekly to discuss issues like attendance and academic achievement. Students analyze data and recommend ways to improve their school.

At Robinson G. Jones, SLC consists of sixth- through eighth-graders, and they take their roles very seriously. They even organized a town hall meeting with District CEO Eric Gordon to present some of their findings.

CMSD has designated 23 Investment Schools that receive extra attention to improve achievement, parent and community engagement, attendance and safety. The strategy is among those spelled out in The Cleveland Plan, a customized set of reforms for education in the city.
