Bellaire Puritas Development Corporation - After School Program Sites

The West Park Teen Job Club meets weekly at John Marshall High School and is open to all youth ages 14-18. The club meets weekly to work on developing skills for success in work, school, and life. A major project of the Teen Job Club is the West Park Youth Job Jam, which is an annual youth job fair and job readiness event. Nearly 100 youth attend this event every year, participating in mock interviews with community volunteers and job skills workshops, followed by a job fair with local employers, internships, and volunteer opportunities.
During the summer months, BPDC hires students from Teen Job Club and other neighborhood youth programs to work with the Y.O.U. Summer Youth Employment Program for 6 weeks. BPDC hires Y.O.U. workers as camp counselors at CMHA Riverside Park’s summer camp, custodial assistants at R.G. Jones and Artemus Ward Schools, and also hosts the West Park Neighborhood Corps, which completes a variety of neighborhood improvement projects. West Park MyCom partners are encouraged to refer their 14-18 year-olds to Bellaire Puritas to get hired for one of these jobs, or to partner with us to host their own summer job site for neighborhood youth.
