• The Principal's Message

    Dear Miles School Community,

We thank you for supporting the staff and students through the 2023-24 school year, and now we are looking forward to improving some of our practices for the new 2024-25 school year. Some of the changes include adding a Miles Monday, where every scholar and staff member wears their Miles School shirts every Monday to show pride in our school and our school community.  The school will provide each scholar with one shirt that is dedicated to “Miles Monday.”  School spirit and school pride are important for us and our morale within the Miles School Community.

Another area of focus will be cell phones. We know that cell phones are great for communication before and after school, but they cause too many distractions during school.  We are looking to limiting those distractions and having our students turn their focus to academics. This initiative is off to a good start. We are utilizing Yondr Pouches to store devices during the school day and students are given full access to their phones at dismissal each day. We don’t want to lose any valuable instructional time as a result of cell phones.

The biggest of our changes has been the addition of our new Reading Curriculum. We moved away from The EL Curriculum and welcomed Into Reading. We are looking forward to engaging our scholars and witnessing their growth as we expose them to this new curriculum.

I am excited about what this year will bring! I ask that parents continue to support us by making sure that our students bring the best versions of themselves each day, and that includes coming to Miles School ready to be engaged in the curriculum and ready to participate in classroom instruction.

    Sincerely,

    Mr. Roy James, Principal
