• The Process to Apply

For 2024-25, a total of $4 million in Get More Opportunity Funds will be released and distributed across all CMSD schools by a formula based on each school's enrollment so that students at all schools will have an opportunity to benefit. Most schools can expect to receive a total amount ranging from $30,000 to $55,000. The total available for each school will be posted here when applications open on September 23, 2024.

Under the principal's direction, A school-based review committee will review proposals submitted by students, parents, and staff from within the school community ranging from a few hundred dollars up to the school's total share of the Fund.  Allowable uses will be limited to those that directly benefit scholars.

    Who can apply, and how

Proposals may be submitted only by staff, student(s), or parent(s) actively employed or enrolled at the school. Proposals will be submitted via an online form, available on this site from September 23 through November 8, 2024.

Proposals for Get More Opportunity Funds may involve enriching programs or experiences for scholars, improvements to the school facility and/or its surroundings, or investments in technology or equipment used by scholars. Applicants are encouraged to approach the process creatively and with local needs in mind.

In 2024-25 and in future years, expenditures of Get More Opportunity Funds for the primary benefit of educators will not be considered, regardless of any indirect benefits to scholars.

    Proposal review process overview

Any proposals requiring facilities updates or technology purchases will be reviewed by the CMSD Central Office prior to being reviewed at the school level. Proposals will then be reviewed at the school level by a local review committee chaired by the school principal and consisting of students, parents, and staff.

The committee will review each qualified proposal, following a standardized process. Reviews and decisions on proposals are anticipated to begin in late November 2024.
