3/16/2020 CMSD has turned 22 elementary schools into meal sites that will help keep students 18 and younger fed with free carryout meals during the extended spring break ordered by Gov. Mike DeWine.
U.S. Census Bureau Director Steven Dillingham teamed up with Wade Park School students on Friday to emphasize the importance of everyone being counted in the 2020 Census.
Dear Parents and Caregivers:
This afternoon, Governor Michael DeWine announced that school buildings in Ohio will remain closed through the end of this school year.
What does that mean for you? For now, there will be no significant difference. We will remain engaged with students and families in meaningful ways as required under the terms of House Bill 197. Learning opportunities will remain available through packets of enrichment material now being mailed weekly to homes and posted on the District website. Schools will remain in contact with students and families and provide support through homework hotlines. We will complete distribution of devices to households so as many students as possible can have digital connections. Our teachers will continue to present lessons on television from 9-10 a.m. weekdays through our partnership with CW43 WUAB.
We will continue to work with our seniors to keep them on track to graduation and help them prepare for the future. This will include working with College Now Greater Cleveland and Say Yes to Education to make sure they have submitted college applications, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, and applications for the Say Yes to Education scholarship. And while we have not figured out the method yet, we will join them in celebrating their graduation and steps toward college and career.
We also will continue providing students and families with grab-and-go breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday, as well as shuttle service to sites where ridership warrants.
Above all, we will stay in contact with you through this unprecedented and difficult situation. The District wants and needs to know your needs and how, where possible, we can help you meet them.
These are unusual times, to say the least. Please follow state guidelines for staying safe and healthy and help us plan for the time we can all be together again.
