Portal open for choosing high schools
CMSD NEWS BUREAU
12/14/2017
CMSD parents and caregivers can go online and select the school that will best fit their child’s needs.
The choosecmsd.org portal is now open for picking high schools. K-8 school choices can be made starting Monday, Jan. 8.
The portal will remain open until March 9. Though enrollment will continue, students signed up by that date will have the best chance of securing their preferred pick.
The Cleveland Plan, a customized blueprint for education reform in the city, calls for offering students a portfolio of high-quality options.
The District’s portfolio has grown over time. Just this year, CMSD launched six new high school models: Bard High School Early College East Campus, Campus International High School, Davis Aerospace and Maritime High School, John Adams College and Career Academy, Rhodes College and Career Academy and Rhodes School of Environmental Studies.
From Jan. 23-25, CMSD will transport more than 2,300 eighth-graders to East Professional Center for a high school choice fair. The District is seeking to have choices made for all eighth-graders by the end of the school year.
CMSD also will host two high school choice fairs for students and their families.
The first fair will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23 at the District’s East Professional Center, 1349 E. 79th St. The second will be held Tuesday, Jan. 30 at Max S. Hayes High School, 2211 W. 65th St.
