Councilman Matt Zone was first elected to City Council in 2001, representing Ward 15, which includes the Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood where he and generations of his family grew up.

Ward 15 also includes the Edgewater area, Gordon Square and parts of Ohio City, Cudell, and Stockyards neighborhoods.Councilman Zone is chairman of council's Safety Committee and vice chairman of its Finance Committee. He also serves on the Health & Human Services Committee and the Operations Committee.

Throughout Northeast Ohio, one in six people is food insecure – meaning they may not know where their next meal will come from. The Greater Cleveland Food Bank seeks to bridge the meal gap, connecting individuals with the nutritious meals they need to succeed.

2020 marks the 39th anniversary of Coats for Kids – Cleveland, which was started in 1981 by local radio station employees when they realized that a large number of children were not attending school in the winter because they did not have warm coats. That November, Coats for Kids – Cleveland was founded and the radio station began soliciting donations of like-new, gently worn coats and cash donations to purchase new coats.

NFL PLAY 60 is the League's national youth health and wellness campaign to encourage kids to get physically active for at least 60 minutes a day. Since PLAY 60 launched in 2007, the NFL has committed more than $352 million to youth health and fitness through PLAY 60 programming, grants and media time for public service announcements.

MAGNET’s Early College, Early Career Program

Local employers hire high school juniors and seniors for paid, on-site work for 1-2 days per week over a two-year period. Plant managers and technicians train students on various skills like CNC machining and welding. MAGNET provides mentorship and guidance to help students develop soft skills like critical thinking, teamwork, and a strong work ethic. Students selected for ECEC will not only receive training, hourly wages, manufacturing certification(s), and college credit; they will gain a competitive edge with new skills and better work experience that can lead to multiple job offers and a rewarding, sustainable career in manufacturing. At GMSEI, our students are employed at Rockwell Automation.
