Here at FHNT, we are proud to work with two great organizations that help make this school great! Please check out our partners to learn more:
Facing History and Ourselves (FHAO)- The heart of our teaching and learning comes from FHAO, which asserts that “the bigotry and hate that we witness today are the legacy of brutal injustices of the past.” Teachers at FHNT work closely with FHAO staff to craft units of study that focus on the ways in which history informs our attitudes and behaviors. Our goal is to foster a community of students who will work to create a world that is fair and just. Facing History’s resources address racism, antisemitism, and prejudice at pivotal moments in history; we help students connect choices made in the past to those they will confront in their own lives.
New Tech Network (NTN)- Project-Based Learning (PBL) is the New Tech model of teaching. PBL is implemented here with collaborative projects that strive for authentic, real-world connections. Students gain and display knowledge and skills through research, reading, written and oral communication, and collaboration. Critical thinking is demonstrated and further developed through 21st-century skills such as cooperation, communication, reflection, self-assessment, and effective and professional use of media and technology. In mathematics and science, students will use problems based learning, which can be thought of as mini-projects.
