CMSD NEWS BUREAU

CMSD’s Division of Safety and Security will kick off its new Summer Safety Town program for children on June 9 at the East Professional Center, 1349 E. 79th St.
Safety Town teaches children safety and injury prevention using a mock, small-scale city. Free one-week sessions, open to children in kindergarten through third grade, will be held at three summer school sites: Mound (June 18-22), Robinson G. Jones (June 25-29) and George Washington Carver (July 9-13). Families can register children at the kickoff and at the participating schools.
The kickoff, which will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., will feature activities and presentations by the American Red Cross, Cleveland Water Department, Cleveland Emergency Medical Service, Fire and Police departments, RTA, the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District and CMSD Safety and Security. The event also will include bike raffles and giveaways. Lunch will be provided.
Plans call for expanding the summer program by one grade each year until reaching the eighth grade.
The District also offers Safety Town during the school year.
