CLEVELAND, Ohio - High-achieving, low-income high school seniors are being encouraged to explore college options well beyond where they thought they could go.

The College Board, which administers the SAT, is sending information on top colleges to every senior who has an SAT or Preliminary SAT score in the top 15 percent of test takers and whose family is in the bottom quarter of income distribution.

About 28,000 seniors will be sent a package that includes application fee waivers to six colleges of the student’s choice.
