The exterior transformation of Paul Revere Prek-8 School on Sandusky Avenue was accented Thursday by brilliant blue skies and sunshine.
But the real muscle work was done by an army of students with shovels, rakes and buckets (see video at bottom).
Principal Chris Myslenski and other staff supervised, but dozens of students moved several cubic yards of mulch, placing it around the bright red flowers on either side of the front entrance of the school.
The mulch work was the finishing touch on a beautification project that included murals in the front arched windows, the removal of some overgrown shrubbery and a new banner over the doorway. It followed an interior painting project led by a teacher in the school, Myslenski said.
Myslenski said the students, with help from artists in the Young Audiences program, created the eight new colorful murals that fit into the arched windows along the front of the school.
