A group made up mostly prospective students, as well as some parents, attended an open house at the former Harry E. Davis Middle School . Harry E. Davis, located at East 107th Street and Churchill Avenue, has served as CSA’s interim home during planning and construction for the new facility.
The visiting students hailed from private, charter, suburban public and CMSD schools – one just arrived in the country from Turkey. They observed and met peers who study visual arts, literary arts, theater, dance, and vocal and instrumental music.
CSA will transition from a school for sixth through 12th grades to a four-year high school over two years, while also strengthening both arts and academic courses. The new building will have room for up to 775 students.
The school will conduct a boot camp (register here) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, that will prepare applicants for auditions that are required to gain admission. About 340 students have signed up to participate in auditions that will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28. The deadline to apply for an audition is Feb. 20.

The Cleveland School of the Arts won’t return to University Circle until later this year, but on Thursday more than 200 visitors got a sample of the programs they will find inside the new building.
