CMSD expands meal service during remote learning

The Cleveland Metropolitan School District is working to address the many needs of families as they deal with the challenges of COVID-19 and the move to remote learning.

To provide children with nourishment, new USDA guidelines will allow all students in the city of Cleveland (18 and younger) to receive prepackaged lunch and breakfast, even if they don’t attend a CMSD school.

Parents or caregivers can pick up meals for students. Barcodes are no longer required.

Schools will discuss meal plans as they help families develop individual care plans. Families will select from one of two meal plans:

  • Pick up a day’s supply from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at any K-8 school. A double supply will be available on Tuesday. Sites will be closed Wednesday for cleaning and sanitizing.
  • Stock up for the week from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday at most high schools. Service is not available at the Lakeside Building (Cleveland High School for Digital Arts, Davis Aerospace & Maritime High School), John Hay Campus or MC2STEM locations.

The service is increased from summer, when the District operated 22 sites and hours were shorter.
