Flu shots to be given in schools

CMSD NEWS BUREAU

Students can receive free flu shots at CMSD schools this fall.

A private company, Healthy Schools, will have teams of nurses give the shots over a period of four weeks, starting on Oct. 15.

The immunizations will be free for all students ages 4 or older, though the company will bill insurance companies if families have coverage.

Parental consent is required. The company has begun distributing consent forms. Parents also can sign up at clevelandmetroflu.com.

The schools’ faculty and staff can also receive free shots but must have insurance.

Healthy Schools will provide the vaccinations in all CMSD schools, except for some where the service is already available.
