A summer like no other: Introducing the CMSD Summer Learning Experience
CMSD NEWS BUREAU

For Cleveland students, this will be a summer like no other.
The CMSD Summer Learning Experience is on the way, offering fun and adventure in a safe environment for students of all ages. And it’s free. Registration begins Monday, May 3.
This isn’t just summer school with a fancy new name. Educators have taken bold steps to create a true “experience” for all students, whether they are catching up, want to get ahead or are simply in a mood to explore.
The Summer Learning Experience will be offered at school locations in neighborhoods throughout the city and be divided into two sessions – June 7 to July 2 and July 12 to Aug. 6. Enroll for one session or both.
Students can finish the year strong by getting back to where they would be, if not for the pandemic. High school students can make up credits, earn credit for new classes and prepare for college entrance exams; younger students will focus on English language arts and math.
Other parts of the day will feature enrichment and engagement. Students can participate in fun projects or on-site camps that appeal to their strengths and interests.
Free shuttle service and meals will be provided, as will supports for special-education students and English learners.
The Summer Learning Experience will have something for families, too. Planning is under way for workshops ranging from financial and computer literacy to yoga, meditation and personal development.
