Proposals sought for six surplus school properties
CMSD NEWS BUREAU
8/9/2021
CMSD and the City of Cleveland are making a second attempt to recruit developers for four sites of closed schools and two pieces of vacant school property.
The properties were among 19 available when the city and District solicited redevelopment proposals earlier this year. The city is facilitating the process.
A team that evaluated developers’ qualifications and proposals rejected proposals for three sites. Two sites drew no formal responses and a sixth proposal was withdrawn.
Proposals for purchase and development are being sought for a second time on these former school sites:
- Case, 4050 Superior Ave.
- Fullerton, 5810 Fullerton Ave.
- Giddings (vacant land), 2250 E. 71st Street
- Mount Pleasant (vacant land), 11617 Union Ave.
- Paul Revere, 10706 Sandusky Ave.
- Willson, 1625 E. 55th St.
Proposals are due by 5 p.m. Sept. 29. Developers may learn more during a virtual information session on Aug. 18 and may tour the buildings on Aug. 23.
For more information, see the new request for proposals.
The city and school district are pursuing further discussions with developers chosen for the remaining 13 properties. The first appeal drew 51 proposals for housing, community green space and retail.
The Board of Education approved a long-term plan for programs and facilities in 2019. At the time, the board also asked that the District seek new uses for surplus property.
