Noah

Noah, a Cleveland School of Science and Medicine senior, will spend his summer living off the land in Alaska before heading to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on a Morehead-Cain Scholarship. He is the first CMSD scholar to receive this prestigious scholarship.

"I'm eternally grateful for all my teachers and everybody that's really helped me get to this situation," Noah said. "I'm really excited to get started and start working on the future and to get my career underway."

Noah's Alaskan adventure is just the beginning of a series of diverse experiences he will have each summer during college, including civic engagement in various cities, studying abroad, and pursuing professional internships.

“I will be hiking and sleeping in the wilderness," said Noah who will graduate with a 4.7 weighted grade point average. “It's about building survival skills, character, and leadership skills.”

Noah ranked fifth in his class and credits his academic achievements, success in sports, and active participation in extracurricular activities for earning this scholarship. He was captain of both the football and soccer teams during high school.

Noah plans to major in psychology. He says this dream is becoming a reality because of the support and guidance of his parents, both CMSD educators, and Frank Sullivan, one of the founding members of CSSM and a Morehead-Cain scholarship alum. Sullivan nominated Noah for the scholarship.

“They were my first teachers. I couldn't have done anything that I have done without them," Noah said about his parents, Donald Nunney, who teaches at Joseph M. Gallegher, and his mom, Maria Nunney, who teaches at Wilbur Wright. "They always pushed me and saw what it takes as a student to succeed."

The Morehead-Cain Scholarship was established in 1951. Noah is one of two students in Ohio to earn the scholarship this year.
