Willson is a PreK-8 school that offers a unique, individualized learning experience and strives to create meaningful connections with the community. Here are some of the exciting things going on at Willson:
The Willson Meditation Room gives students time to regroup while not losing instructional time.
A dozen CMSD schools made the Alliance for a Healthier Generation’s list, which began in 2006, singles out schools for promoting exercise, nutrition and safety among students and staff.
Willson PreK-8 School held a ribbon cutting on Tuesday – for a washer and dryer. The appliances will be used to clean and dry dirty uniforms, which are often cited as a reason why children miss school. Residents also can do laundry at Willson at certain times.
Asthma can be a massive drain on schools, causing children to miss class, lose energy and, in extreme cases, end up in the hospital. The illness can be deadly but it's also treatable, which is why University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital is stepping in to help at a CMSD school.
After two years of going virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 23rd annual Rock Your World with STEAM festival was back in person Saturday.
The CMSD Summer Learning Experience is back for a second year, with something for every student, from preschool through 12th grade. And it’s free. Students can finish the year strong, get ahead or engage in hands-on projects and fun activities at more than 30 school sites throughout the city.
The City of Cleveland is accepting applications for an open seat on the Board of Education. Mayor Justin Bibb will appoint a new board member to complete a term that expires June 30, 2023. The seat was vacated when Jasmine Fryer resigned last August.
CMSD parents will soon have a one-stop online platform where they can perform an array of tasks such as finding their children’s school records, submitting forms and communicating with teachers.
