Dear Families and Friends of Whitney M. Young Warriors!
I am beyond excited to return to WMY for my second year here. As a CLE native, I truly believe in giving back to my community. After graduating with my Bachelor of Arts and my master’s in education, I continued along the path and have been in education for fifteen years. During this time, I have served in the classroom as a Social Studies teacher, worked alongside fantastic teachers as a Dean of Instruction as well as an Instructional Coach and then as an administrator. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, which includes my husband of fourteen years and our eleven-year-old son, being with our friends, running, swimming, cooking and reading.
As an educator, I truly believe in the importance of building and maintaining strong positive relationships between the school and families. This is vital as we all want the same thing for our scholars, for them to succeed in whatever path they decide to take. While our expectations at Whitney M. Young are tough, they are in place to assist our scholars as they take ownership of their own education and life. That is why communication is key between the school and our families. Communication at WMY can occur in multiple ways, such as Class Dojo, phone calls, and scheduled conferences.
I welcome you to another amazing year at Whitney M. Young as we continue to create new opportunities for our scholars and families in addition to providing a terrific academic and social, emotional education for our scholars.
Go Warriors!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Dykstra
