• East Technical High School is a secondary school under the operation of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District in Cleveland, OH.  The school opened in 1908 as a public trade school in the city.  It was reported to be one of only five trade schools in the United States at the time.

The first principal of East Tech was James F. Barker, from Muskegon, Michigan.  He served from 1908-1911.

The school was a sports powerhouse in the city. It won numerous city, district and state titles in football, basketball and track and field.  Most recently, the 2013-2014 Boys Basketball team finished in the final four of Ohio in the Division 1 tournament.

Some notable alumni from East Tech include Olympic athletes Jesse Owens, Harrison Dillard and Dave Albritton.  East Tech alumni Roger Peckinpaugh, Larry Johnson and Joe Vosmik played in Major League Baseball.  Alumnus Barbara Turner played in the WNBA.

The original building stood for some 64 years, until a new building was dedicated and moved into on October 11, 1972.  It is still in operation on the corner of East 55th and Scovill Ave.
