Garfield provides a family-oriented, challenging educational atmosphere that provides developmental for our scholars. It is our desire that our scholars learn the value of making good decisions and achieving academically at the highest levels possible.
We believe that each scholar can learn the skills that will enable them to be successful citizens and leaders in our rapidly changing global society. Our faculty utilizes the most effective research-based practices and instructional strategies to ensure our scholars have access to the best possible opportunities for learning.
We also believe that parents play a critical role in the success of their children and that the home-school partnership is the most important relationship that can be established and maintained for children.
This website is designed to provide parents with some of the tools to more fully enable our partnership in educating children. We hope that you will access this Garfield webpage and the webpages of your child’s teachers on a regular basis to remain informed. It is also our hope that you will use this information to support our scholars and their teachers.
As we work together, open communication is encouraged. It is the positive parental and community involvement that makes Garfield an excellent school choice. We welcome your calls, questions, and involvement in the education and life of your child at James A. Garfield.
This is the third year for the awards, a partnership between the George Gund and Cleveland foundations, the District and the Cleveland Teachers Union. The goal is to spread best practices by honoring teachers who set a standard of excellence and serve as an example for their peers.
Cleveland has been become the fourth chapter of Say Yes to Education, a historic development that will bring college scholarships to CMSD students while also providing services designed to keep them on track to graduation.
