CMSD fares well in national tests
10/30/2019 -- The new Nation’s Report Card is out, and it shows CMSD faring well in reading and math when compared with districts across the country. Eighth-grade reading scores rose while scores nationwide declined.

Dietitian wins grant for Nutrition Network
10/23/2019 -- CMSD Dietitian Allison Thirion will soon begin recruiting experts from hospitals, public health agencies and other organizations for her new Nutrition Network and have them share their knowledge with students via means such as Skype or webinars.

CMSD releases proposals for facilities, programs
10/18/2019 -- The recommendations would reduce a large number of empty seats by consolidating some schools and phasing out others. Shrinking the District’s footprint also would help concentrate resources, strengthen academic and career-technical programs, expand electives and activities and place more students in higher performing schools and new or renovated buildings.

Embassy representatives visit FDR soccer field (Photo gallery)
10/10/2018 -- The relationship between the United States and a Middle Eastern ally grew just a little bit stronger Thursday – with a meeting on a soccer field in the Glenville neighborhood. Representatives of the United Arab Emirates embassy in Washington visited CMSD’s Franklin D. Roosevelt School and the turf field that the embassy paid to install at FDR two years ago.

10/9/2019 -- Mayor Frank G. Jackson has appointed attorney Kathleen Valdez to the Cleveland Board of Education. Valdez, a graduate of James F. Rhodes High School, is managing partner of K Legal LLC, a law firm she recently started.
