Hello Families and Friends of William Rainey Harper,
I am thrilled and honored to join this fantastic school community as your new Assistant Principal! From the moment I stepped into the building, I felt incredibly welcomed. Walking through the halls, I’ve already begun to witness the inspiring story of growth, excellence, and global learning that defines WRH.
To share a bit about my background: I’ve spent the past nine years at THE Halle School of Inquiry, first as a CIS and then as an Assistant Principal. Prior to returning home, I taught in Houston ISD and Humble ISD in Texas, as well as in Chicago Public Schools and School District 89 in Illinois. My teaching experience spans PreK, Kindergarten, second grade, third grade, and even a stint as an encore teacher. Each of these roles has shaped my approach and equipped me with valuable skills I bring to this position.
I hold a master's degree in educational leadership from Concordia University Chicago and a bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Kent State University.
In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors: hiking, gardening, and spending time with my family. I have two daughters who are in 6th grade and beginning high school! My husband and I just celebrated our 15th anniversary, and my two dogs are crazy and fun! I love cooking and canning my own food and reading as much as I can... in between everything else!
I am deeply passionate about teaching and learning and am committed to supporting our students, staff, and families. I look forward to meeting each of you and continuing my professional journey here at WRH.
Warm regards,
Kimberly D. Gil
Assistant Principal
