  • 6 IB Themes

    Over the course of a student's learning at our IB school, they will learn about the world through six different transdisciplinary themes that have been chosen because of their relevance to the real world. IB says "Young learners explore the commonalities of human experience by investigating these themes through a programme of inquiry."

    The 6 themes include: Who We Are, Where We Are in Place and Time, How We Express Ourselves, How the World Works, How We Organize Ourselves, Sharing the Planet

    En el transcurso del aprendizaje de un alumno en nuestra escuela IB, aprenderá sobre el mundo a través de seis temas transdisciplinarios diferentes que han sido elegidos debido a su relevancia para el mundo real. El IB dice que "los estudiantes jóvenes exploran los puntos en común de la experiencia humana al investigar estos temas a través de un programa de indagación".

     

     

  • Developing global citizens through a global mindset

    At Harper, we believe that it is important for students to develop into global citizens. As such, every educator in our building encourages our students to develop the 10 "IB learner profile" attributes each and every day. Each attribute helps students develop a growth mindset, as well as encouraging them to think, and care, about the world outside of their own front door. Throughout the year, we will be encouraging students to take these learner profile attributes home - because we should be global citizens everywhere, not just at school! The Learner Profile Attributes include: inquirer, knowledgable, reflective, balanced, principled, thinkers, communicators, risk-takers, caring, and open-minded.

    En Harper, creemos que es importante que los estudiantes se conviertan en ciudadanos del mundo. Como tal, cada educador en nuestro edificio alienta a nuestros estudiantes a desarrollar los 10 atributos del "perfil de la comunidad de aprendizaje del IB" todos los días.   • Approaches to Learning

    The IB program emphasizes certain skills, called the Approaches to Learning. Each of the 5 categories, thinking, social, communication, self-management, and research emphasize different skills that students will acquire as they participate in the PYP program.
