Travel along with our Wade Park Student Ambassadors as they travel to Chicago for an amazing educational experience. Our scholars are learning, growing, & soaring!
Our student ambassadors traveled to Chicago, where class is in full session. During the first day in Chicago, Wade Park Ambassadors toured the DuSable Museum of African American History to connect with African American history through various exhibits such as “Trouble Maker” and “Freedom, Resistance, and the Journey toward Equality”. Then scholars got an opportunity to visit the Chicago Sports Museum to learn more about Chicago sports history using the high-tech interactive & simulated experiences. Our scholars enjoyed the forensic sports exhibit using CSI-type technology to unravel sports mysteries by exploring the work of federal agents, radiologists, chemists, and other forensics specialist. The highlight of the day was attending the award-winning Broadway musical “Hamilton”.
Wade Park Student Ambassador program fosters the love of learning by focusing on academics, empowerment, and community service. During a visit to Mariano Azuela Elementary, ambassadors engaged, empowered, & inspired scholars to achieve success at school by sharing empowerment speeches and leading break-out sessions in various classrooms. Next, scholars witnessed amazing exhibits at Art Institute of Chicago and then joined Emily Graslie, the Field Museum’s chief curiosity correspondent, for a celebration of art, science, and natural history at the Apple Michigan Avenue store. Our ambassadors were immersed with knowledge on various specimens from the museums vast collection and then used an iPad to create a landscape painting.
Wade Park Student Ambassadors empowered scholars at Little Village Academy & South Loop Elementary. Then the ambassadors returned to Mariano Azuela Elementary to work with student council scholars. Both student groups shared out highlights from their perspective schools and brainstorm strategies to improve their learning environments. After finishing up the school visits, scholars visited Chicago Cultural Center, Cloud Gate (The Bean), and Buckingham Fountain. The evening ended with scholars visiting Skydeck Chicago observing a spectacular view extending to four states at 1,353 feet above the ground!
Our student ambassadors traveled to Chicago to empower students to be successful at school. During our last day in Chicago, ambassadors visited the Museum of Science + Industry Chicago which is the largest science museum in the Western Hemisphere with over 14 acres of hands-on science exhibits.
