How can we make transportation in Cleveland safer and more efficient?
About the project
Students will explore transportation in Cleveland and design an innovation to increase the safety, reliability, or efficiency of public transport.
About the Partnership
MC2STEM has participated in RTA's Adopt a Shelter program for the past two school years, with students learning from RTA professionals through classroom visits.
Project Deliverables
Phase 1
Students will research transportation needs in Cleveland to gain an understanding of the Cleveland publics perceptions of the safety and reliability of public transportation in the city. Students will gain a chance to interview RTA professionals, as well as the Cleveland public to better understand the problems that the city faces. Students will maintain the adopted RTA shelter, and take measurements for a proposed redesign.
Students will then create a proposal for a redesigned RTA station and present their model to RTA.
Phase 2
Students will continue to develop their model RTA shelter and learn to use Augmented Reality to demonstrate their improved shelter as it would look on the adopted shelter.
Phase 3
Students will build a model of their redesigned RTA shelter, and present their proposed redesign to RTA.
