About the Project

Students at MC²STEM High School will work to challenge and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health through a student-driven Capstone project. The project will explore awareness campaigns, education strategies, and community-based interventions that encourage open dialogue and normalize mental wellness for all ages.

Possible Focus Areas Include:
  • Creating social media campaigns to raise awareness and testing their effectiveness
  • Designing workshops or events that foster open conversations
  • Producing educational videos or printed materials
  • Partnering with youth and adult groups to broaden impact

About the Partnership

Frat Dads is a community organization committed to supporting youth well-being, mental health education, and parent engagement. Through this partnership, students gain access to authentic feedback, support networks, and opportunities to create real change in their community.

Project Deliverables

Phase 1: Research & Empathy

Objectives: Students will gain a deeper understanding of the stigma around mental health by conducting interviews, gathering stories, and analyzing current public perceptions.

  • Interviews: Conduct with students, parents, counselors, and community members
  • Media Analysis: Study how mental health is portrayed in news, TV, and social media
  • Surveys: Gather data about local attitudes and mental health awareness

Phase 2: Awareness & Action

Objectives: Students will design and implement solutions that combat mental health stigma and promote emotional well-being.

  • Campaign Creation: Develop materials such as posters, reels, and infographics
  • Event Planning: Host discussions, panels, or awareness events in school or the community
  • Partnership Outreach: Work with Frat Dads and other stakeholders to distribute resources and amplify the message
