About the project

Students from grades 9 through 12 at MC2STEM will collaborate to develop classes, and teach them at the Museum of Cotemporary Art Cleveland (MOCA). Students will teach the public to create mobiles, and donate creations to Rainbow Babies Children's Hospital. Students will also develop their own 3D printed art pieces.

About the Partnership

MOCA and MC2STEM have collaborated yearly to help students learn to express themselves artistically, while simultaneously voicing their opinions about social issues.

Project Deliverables

Phase 1

Students will create models for ornaments for a mobile, and 3D print them to create a sample product. They will then print multiple samples for display, determining the best settings and methods for printing and cleaning the models.

Phase 2

Students will create the lesson plan for their classes that teach the public to create a 3D printed mobile, and teach them to their classmates. Students will continue to practice their lessons and refine their teaching before leading classes at MOCA.

Students will then lead monthly classes at MOCA, gaining feedback from adult students and refining their lessons.

Phase 3

Students will create a 3d printed art piece of their own, and create an instructibles file that teaches others how to generate it. Students will upload their design to Thingiverse for public use and feedback.
