12/30/2020 -- A Cleveland School of the Arts senior is gaining local and national attention for her writing. Recently, Laila won first place at the Great Lakes African American Writers Conference Youth Spoken Word Competition in Cleveland.
At the Cleveland School of the Arts this morning breakfast was made for heroes. More than 80 students invited the person that has had an impact on their lives as a way to say school to say “thank you.”
About 100 students, mostly eighth-graders, reported for what were called early auditions. A larger number is expected when the high school holds mass auditions again in February.
Ten District teachers have learned that they have won this year’s Excellence in Teaching Award. The honor goes to teachers who demonstrate instructional expertise, creativity and innovation and set an example for their peers.
Cleveland has been become the fourth chapter of Say Yes to Education, a historic development that will bring college scholarships to CMSD students while also providing services designed to keep them on track to graduation. Check out this CMSD-TV video that was played at the announcement today.
1/6/2021 -- CMSD will offer virtual information sessions and a choice fair to help parents and caregivers select the high schools that best fit their children’s needs.
With the threat of COVID-19 spiking in the area, CEO Eric Gordon has recommended that all District students remain in remote learning for the beginning of the second quarter.

CMSD graduates received a boost this year from new Say Yes to Education scholarships that pay up to the full value of tuition. The scholarships may be used at all public colleges and universities and Pell-eligible training programs in Ohio and more than 100 private colleges and universities across the country.
