Hi, my name is Vanessa Greer-Jones, or Nurse Jones and I am the school nurse for Fullerton School. I have been a registered nurse for over 30 years. My nursing practice begain in the hospitals in areas of medical-surgical nursing, surgical intensive care, and cardiac catherization lab. My most recent work has been in ambulatory nursing and outpatient clinical offices in areas of Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and OB/GYN and Home Health Care. While I was working in ambulatory care, I also had the pleasure of part time work as a substitute school nurse and nursing instructor in Community Health Nursing at Lakeland Community College. In 2013, I had the opportunity to become a full time school nurse with CMSD, and I now enjoy the flexibility of working in multiple schools. I am confident my background and work experience has prepared me well to work in the schools, to be a resource for healthcare for our students, their families, and to our school staff.
As a school health nurse, my major responsibilities include:

Promoting a healthy school environment by:
       Coordinate care for students who have chronic medical conditions or are medically fragile
       Supervise nursing care and administration of medications
       Provide state mandated and other health screenings (such as vision, ht/wt/bmi)
       Referral of students, as necessary, based on screening results
       Identify health resources in the community to support students and families
       Promote the physical and social-emotional health of students, families, and staff
       Monitor the school environment for safety
       Monitor immunizations; exclude students with infectious illnesses when necessary;
 
I want all to know that I also attended and graduated from CMSD;I completed my nursing education at the University of Toledo and Cleveland State University; my certification in School Health was done at Ashland University.
I have been married for 25 years and have 3 adult children; my son is an educator in Texas; my daughter is a social work major at CSU, and another daughter isa new RN at University Hospital.
