Theatre Arts
Students in the Theatre Arts program train as actors, directors, playwrights, and production managers through a comprehensive and highly challenging course of study.
The theatre arts curriculum combines the academic study of theatre content with the practice, mastery, and development of theatre skills. Instruction focuses on the fundamentals of theatre, such as: working as an ensemble, introduction to acting, movement for the stage, and musical theater. In addition, the high school curriculum offers students advanced instruction in acting, playwriting, directing, voice and movement for the stage, physical theater, musical theater, African American Theater, Shakespeare, stage management, and set design.
Students receive high quality theatre training from theatre professionals in addition to instruction from theatre department faculty. This instruction coupled with the design of the curriculum, prepares graduates to be competitive for admission to collegiate theatre arts programs.
