Ms. Russell
Welcome to a new school year at Warner Girls’ Leadership Academy! I’m Ms. Russell, and I’m excited to begin my 10th year teaching here. I look forward to a productive and engaging year of learning with your scholar.
Supplies
Students do not need to bring school supplies—everything is provided!
✅ Each student must bring a clear book bag labeled with their name.
Optional donations: disinfecting wipes, tissues, or foaming hand soap.
Please keep pencils, crayons, glue, paper, and scissors at home for homework use.
Behavior Expectations
We focus on building positive behavior to support academic success. Physical aggression (hitting, kicking, etc.) is not tolerated. We encourage peaceful conflict resolution and respectful behavior at all times.
Class Dojo
We use Class Dojo for behavior tracking and parent communication. Students earn points for meeting expectations and can redeem them in our Class Dojo Shop. Join Our Class on Class Dojo!
Grading Policy
Grades reflect mastery of content through independent assessments (tests/quizzes).
Students will have many opportunities to practice skills through:
- Group instruction
- Classwork
- Educational websites
- Homework
These practice tasks earn Dojo points but are not graded.
Homework
- Math: Sent home after each lesson; due the next day
- Reading: Assigned Monday–Thursday
Please review homework with your child. Assignments more than a week late will not earn Dojo points.
Purple Take-Home Folder
Each student receives a purple folder to carry between home and school daily.
- Keep at Home Side: Graded work, flyers, notices
- Return to School Side: Homework and signed forms
Please do not decorate or personalize the folder. Important info (logins, schedules, contact info) is on the back insert—please keep it intact.
Dress Code
- Tops: Red or purple polo shirts
- Bottoms: Khaki, tan, navy, or black
- Shoes: Closed-toe only (no Crocs, slides, sandals)
