Ms. Phillips

From Room A203, Mary Baldwin College, I extend a warm welcome to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English Language Arts (ELA) students!

I hope your summer was filled with enriching experiences and quality time with loved ones. I'm Ms. Phillips, your child's ELA teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. My passion lies in empowering students, and I'm dedicated to providing the best educational foundation possible. Together, we'll work towards achieving your child's learning goals, while nurturing existing skills and fostering new ones.

Our ELA classroom will be a vibrant community of learners. We'll delve into captivating literature, explore diverse writing styles, and analyze literary works and theories. While honing critical thinking skills, we'll also prepare for upcoming District and State exams throughout the year.

My vision for our class is a supportive and positive environment where learning, curiosity, and motivation are championed. I have high expectations for each student, and I believe that through mutual respect, teamwork, and collaboration, everyone has the potential to achieve greatness.

So, let's embark on a journey of learning and success together! Stay tuned for more information about classroom routines and expectations in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, feel free to reach me at velma.phillips-obiako@clevelandmetroschools.org.

Warmly,

Ms. Phillips, 6th-8th Grade ELA Teacher
