Student Arrival/Drop-Off (7:50 a.m.- 8:10 a.m.):The car drop-off is at the crosswalk in the center of the school parking lot off Jeffries Avenue. Do not enter the bus lane, stop, or park alongside the walkway inside the parking lot. If wildflowers are being escorted into the school, please park in a designated parking space in the back row of the parking lot, furthest from the main entrance, to allow parents/caregivers to enter and exit the parking lot without interfering with bus operation or staff arrival. PK Wildflowers are escorted by parents and signed in. Wildflowers should prepare for the security checkpoint by opening their book and/or lunch bags. All wildflowers, parents/caregivers, and visitors will follow the procedures for passing through the security checkpoint. For your wildflowers' safety and comfort during inclement weather, they should not arrive at school before 7:50 a.m. No team member is assigned to supervise wildflowers before 7:50 a.m.Late Arrivals: Wildflowers are expected to be in school by 8:10 a.m. every day when school is in session. Wildflowers arriving after 8:15 a.m. are tardy and must sign in at the main office before reporting to class. Attendance, including late arrivals, will be monitored using HB 410 https://education.ohio.gov/getattachment/Topics/Chronic-Absenteeism/House-Bill-410-FAQ.pdf.aspx?lang=en-US. Wildflowers who repeatedly come to school late will be referred to our Student Support Team and may result in the school attendance committee reporting the wildflower's school attendance to the Department of Children & Family Services. If there are special circumstances and/or you need support to ensure your Wildflower arrives on time daily, please contact a school team member.
Cell Phones/Electronic Device Policy
CMSD is committed to providing a safe, positive, and productive learning environment for its students. The District recognizes that personal cellular phones and electronic devices can be a source of disruption in the learning environment. Although families may choose, at their own discretion and risk, to send a personal cell phone or similar electronic device to school with their student, the access to and use of the cell phone or electronic device is governed by this policy.
During the School Day: To maintain a secure and orderly learning environment, students who choose to bring a personal cell phone or electronic device to school will have their phone/device subject to collection and/or storage during the student school day utilizing the Yondr system, a proven tool implemented in over 1,000 schools across 21 countries. This system will transform our school into a phone-free space, enhancing the learning and teaching environment for all our students.
The Yondr Program utilizes a simple, secure pouch that stores cell phones and electronic devices, including Smartwatches and wireless earbuds. Upon arrival, students power their cell phones and electronic devices off and secure them in a color-coded, numbered, personally assigned Yondr Pouch. The pouch will remain with the student and must be stored in the student’s book bag and secured in the student’s locker or cubby until dismissal. Students are responsible for keeping their Pouch in good working condition.
If a student damages her pouch or her pouch or phone/electronic device is visible or audible, she will be referred to a school administrator. The administrator will collect the cell phone, electronic device, or pouch and call home for a Parent/Caregiver Pick-Up. Please note that the Yondr pouch is the property of the school. Intentionally damaging the Yondr Pouch (e.g. deep scratches on the globe and the green ring around it, intentional pen marks on the inside of the pouch, bent and/or damaged pins) is a Level III violation of the CMSD Code of Conduct and may result in a $35 replacement fee.
