The current Lincoln-West High School is a 3-story school located on Cleveland’s west side in the Clark-Fulton neighborhood. Two separate schools, the School of Science and Health and the School of Global Studies, serve a combined 600 students in grades 9-12. The Science and Health program partners with MetroHealth Hospital at an additional space on MetroHealth’s Main Campus a few minutes away.

Built in the early 1970s, the current 250,000-sf school features highly recognizable concrete arches and columns throughout the school. The school sits in a residential urban neighborhood on a bowled 5.5-acre site.

In early 2022 design began for a NEW Lincoln-West High School which is part of CMSDs Segment 8 school modernization program.

The new school will continue to house the School of Science and Health as well as the School of Global Studies. The school will host technologically advanced academic spaces, dedicated science labs, health, music and visual arts spaces. Entry to the building and parking will connect to and support nearby community assets. Shared spaces such as student dining and the media center are designed to promote collaborative work and be available for community engagement activities.

The new design maximizes the use of the unique site. Site circulation is being designed to create dedicated student drop-off and pickup areas and safe pathways onto the school grounds for pedestrians, bike and transit riders.  A new activity field will be constructed on site and adjacent to the City of Cleveland Meyer Pool and Playground to allow for an expansion of outdoor activities.

The new Lincoln-West High School will provide students a modern and accessible environment to best prepare them for their future.

    About

The current Lincoln-West High School is a 3-story school located on Cleveland’s west side in the Clark-Fulton neighborhood. Two separate schools, the School of Science and Health and the School of Global Studies, serve a combined 600 students in grades 9-12. The Science and Health program partners with MetroHealth Hospital at an additional space on MetroHealth’s Main Campus a few minutes away.

Built in the 1970s, the 250,000-sf school sits recessed on 5.5-acre site to provide lower-level classrooms with natural light. The cast-in-place concrete structure features iconic arches and columns on the exterior façade.

The School’s name, Lincoln-West, is a byproduct of the merger between Cleveland's Lincoln High School and West High School.

    School of Science and Health

The School of Science and Health places students in a unique learning environment where they are engaged in Project-Based Learning (PBL) and college-based curriculum such as Project Lead the Way (PLTW). Educational pathways are designed around advancing healthcare through CMSDs partnership with the MetroHealth System. Students can explore fields in healthcare and in agencies that support the healthcare system in Cleveland. Fields like human resources, information technology, marketing and communications, food services, and engineering are studied in real-world settings. MetroHealth professionals serve as mentors. Students also have access to internships and networking opportunities within the MetroHealth System during their high school experience.
