Charter Schools Office

The Charter Schools Office works with charters in three distinct but important ways:

• As a charter school partner
• As a member of the Cleveland Education Compact
• As a charter school authorizer (also called sponsor)

Through sponsorship, the Office currently monitors the academic, organizational, and fiscal performance of seven schools. Those interested in seeking sponsorship with the CMSD should contact the Charter Schools Office.

Additionally, formed in 2014, The Cleveland Education Compact helps CMSD and the city’s 50 plus charter schools work together to share resources and best practices. The Cleveland Education Compact creates a framework allowing members to collaborate as partners in the city-wide effort to improve education for all students. Members of the Compact believe that Cleveland’s families deserve better schools and a broader choice of excellent schools.
