The Division of Equity and Culture supports the primary priorities of schools, which are the Core, providing Coherence and ensuring Clarity.Through our collective expertise, we will lead the work in the following three target areas to support the primary priorities:Supporting the establishment of a strong student and school cultureHelping to create a positive staff culture; andSupport creating positive relationships
Division Objectives
- Support schools in nurturing a supportive and inclusive environment that strengthens and fosters academic success, personal growth, and positive social interactions between students and students and students and staff.
- Support schools in creating a positive and supportive working environment that fosters teamwork and strengthens connections between colleagues, principals, and students.
- Support the various district departments and schools in improving community interaction toward improving communication and responsiveness.
- Support schools to ensure that education is inclusive and responsive to all students' diverse needs, backgrounds, and experiences, promoting equitable opportunities for learning and success.
- Provide tailored support for specialized groups that recognize and respect their unique experiences, challenges, and strengths to promote inclusivity and growth toward their desired future.
- Support the district in creating a culture that honors and celebrates visible evidence of our commitment toward nurturing an environment where families feel heard and responded to and staff and school leaders are building relationships with students.
The Equity and Culture Division comprises the following departments, which coordinate their respective work streams to support the division objectives:Please take the time to fill out our Equity Audit which aims to uncover and address disparities in educational access and outcomes. This comprehensive audit is guided by a deep understanding of equity in education, going beyond equal treatment to include access, opportunities, treatment, and outcomes for all students, particularly those from marginalized or underrepresented groups.
