Equity Task Force
CMSD's strategic plan reflects the district's commitment to equity and inclusion. To meet this commitment, CMSD has convened a task force representative of the district's stakeholders to identify and implement equitable practices. Members represent each grade span and geographic area, CMSD administrators, faculty and staff, as well as community members, CMSD parents, and students who will be most impacted. The task force will identify and recommend equitable practices for the Strategic Equity Plan.
1. Learning Together
- Building our team is important, it's vital. Our initial sessions together will play a crucial role in helping us get acquainted and build trust.
- The task force will establish our collective agreements and boundaries for discussion.
2. Defining the Work
Through professional development sessions, the task force will learn, define, and explore current issues of inequity in education to identify potential equity foci.
As a collective, the Task Force will create a definition, mission, and vision for equity.
3. Equity Audit Data Dive
The Equity Task Force will explore and evaluate the Equity Audit's results in relation to their proposed definition, mission, and vision for equity. Using guiding questions, they will determine and rank areas of major concern.
4. Recommendations
- Working in subcommittees, the task force will generate recommendations for the Strategic Equity Plan.
- Subcommittee groups will receive feedback from the full task force, then finalize and submit recommendations to the Equity &Culture Division.
- The Equity & Culture Division will consider task force recommendations for inclusion in the District's Strategic Equity Plan.
5. Establishing Policy
The Equity Task Force will draft policies to present to the CMSD Board of Education for approval. These policies will be created in order to push recommendations forward accross the entire district over multiple years.
6. Implementation
Task Force members continue to meet monthly, evaluating and recommending additional actions in response to new situations that arise in the District. Recommendations will align with adopted policies and goals related to equity.
