Division of Safety and Security
The Division of Safety and Security, in partnership with our students, employees and community, will strive to provide a safe and orderly environment for learning. We believe that High Standards and the delivery of Quality Service is our Commitment and priority to the Children of Cleveland.
Parents, Students, Faculty, and our Community we want to thank you for the universal show of support demonstrated through your participation in our recent surveys, your comments, emails, and phone calls as we discussed our current budget concerns, plans and pending staff reductions.
The safety and security of our students and staff are among the highest priorities at the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. The school district and our safety teams are working closely with local authorities to implement safety procedures and improve mutual aid.
At a recent meeting, parents asked us to tell them what they can do to help. The single most important thing parents can do right now is to demonstrate their support of the school by becoming a partner in our efforts.
Many important actions have already taken place and are already in the works to secure our students. While we’ve talked about these in various communication avenues, we’d like to share them again here as a reminder of the ongoing progress and our commitment to you, your children and our schools. They include:
• Student ID program
• Visitor access control
• Continued utilization of metal detectors
• A closed campus operation
• We will continue to deploy at least one officer at every building
• Valuable safety tips and guidelines are available on our web site
We hope that you’ll stay positive, forward thinking, and action-oriented. By standing together as a community, we cannot fail. To each and every one of you, thank you for your understanding, patience, and ongoing support. Together we will weather this storm.
