• Say Yes to Education - Partnerships and Wraparound Prevention Services Department

  • This CMSD department works with Say Yes Cleveland, an outside nonprofit organization that provides tuition scholarships to CMSD graduates and organizes community services that help our students and families overcome barriers to success. Our department oversees Out of School Time programs and fills gaps in mental health services for students, families and staff.

    Our Purpose:

    Focus on Literacy

Last school year, 29.1% of Cleveland Metropolitan School District fourth-graders were proficient in English language arts, according to state data. By comparison, the proficiency rate in similar districts was 37.4%, and the overall state proficiency rate was 62.5%.

The proficiency rate for Cleveland eighth-graders in English language arts was 24.2%, compared with 28% in similar districts and 52.7% statewide.

"Out of School Programs (OSP) have a unique opportunity to bolster students’ learning, develop students’ awareness of literacy as a life skill, and increase student motivation for literacy. "
