CEO Focus

Greetings CMSD Families and Friends,
Today marks the start of Teacher Appreciation Week. It’s a time for reflection and expressions of gratitude. In my state of the Schools’ Address last November, I was honored to share the story of Mrs. Martha Croll, my 11th-grade High School Physics teacher.
Mrs. Croll embodied excellence and achievement as core values and demanded the same in return from students. In addition to being a gifted teacher, she was an extraordinary mentor and friend. She was the type of classroom instructor who changed lives by routinely unlocking intellectual curiosities, as the best teachers do.
We are fortunate to have so many similarly talented educators leading CMSD classrooms. These teachers understand their roles require an unwavering commitment to students and a passion for imparting knowledge. These teachers help unlock unlimited possibilities for young scholars while opening a lens to potential futures.
President John F. Kennedy once said, “Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education.”
The great poet and civil rights activist Maya Angelou took the sentiment a step further when she said, “I’ve learned that making a living is not the same thing as making a life.”
That’s exactly what dedicated CMSD teachers do as part of their daily mission. They improve children’s lives and enable them to forge pathways forward! Despite the challenges and, too often, a lack of expressed appreciation for their work, CMSD teachers are the enduring backbone of our District.
I’m proud of our teachers and the standards of excellence they collectively bring to classrooms and the District daily.
Yours In Gratitude,

Dr. Warren Morgan

2024-2025 Transportation Survey

To make our bus routes more efficient next school year, CMSD is now requiring all eligible parents/guardians to request transportation for their student(s).
On May 20th at 10:30 a.m. we will conduct a second round of a phone survey for families that did not respond to the initial call. The one question survey will ask if you wish to have transportation services for the 2024-2025 school year. You can press the number 1 for Yes and the number 2 for No.
Eligible families can also request transportation by contacting the Transportation Department at (216) 838-4BUS (4287).
