CEO Focus

Greetings CMSD Families and Friends,
This is a magical time of the school year when we collectively applaud the achievements of our scholars and enjoy ceremonial moments with them. This is when we publicly celebrate the perseverance and hard work that brings scholars to this point on their journeys.
Tomorrow, I will be honored to help host a student dinner before the CMSD Board Business meeting. The guests of honor at the dinner will be Valedictorians and Salutatorians from each of the District’s high schools. The scholastic brain power and intellectual prowess that will be present in the John Marshall High School dining room is certain to be both exhilarating and humbling for me.
As a high school senior, I remember anxiously awaiting the next step in my journey. I spent my last year of high school virtually homeless, as my family home was destroyed by fire near the start of the school year. I remember the challenge of remaining focused and committed to my educational dreams.
Each high-achieving scholar I will meet Tuesday likely has an intensely personal story of how they overcame challenges to become academic champions. I am eager to learn more about their stories as I celebrate them. I’m equally excited to continue to cheer on the nearly 1,800 CMSD students who have already made plans or are creating post-secondary plans.
As a District, we intentionally highlight the core value of a relentless pursuit of Excellence and Achievement. To that end, we will continue to measure our success by the numbers of scholars who graduate with plans for college, careers, or enlistment.
This school year, 59% of our seniors have applied to college, up 10% from the same number of seniors who applied at this point last year. We’re headed in the right direction!
I invite you to watch a livestream of the District’s Valedictorians and Salutatorians who will be recognized at the board meeting on Tuesday, May 21.  Go to the District homepage to find a link to the livestream beginning at 6:30 p.m.
It will be a glorious celebration for students highlighting our growing momentum and excellence.
Yours In Gratitude,

Dr. Warren Morgan

2024-2025 Transportation Survey

To make our bus routes more efficient next school year, CMSD is now requiring all eligible parents/guardians to request transportation for their student(s).
On May 20th, we will conduct a second round of a phone survey for families that did not respond to the initial call. The one question survey will ask if you wish to have transportation services for the 2024-2025 school year. You can press the number 1 for Yes and the number 2 for No.
Eligible families can also request transportation by contacting the Transportation Department at (216) 838-4BUS (4287).
