    Technology Providers and General Monitoring of Student Devices

     

    In accordance with Ohio Revised Code Sections 3319.325 through 3319.327.

     

    Technology Providers

     

    A list of Cleveland Metropolitan School District (“CMSD”) technology providers that have access to student educational records for the purpose of providing curriculum, testing, or assessment services. This list will be continually updated. These technology providers affect all student data dependent of technology provider requirements. Additionally, if you have any questions about this information or wish to review a copy of CMSD’s contract with any of the listed technology providers, please contact DSArequests@clevelandmetroschools.org

    General Monitor of School-Issued Devices

     

    CMSD, either directly or indirectly through a contracted technology provider, is electing to generally monitor all school-issued devices. Under Ohio law, a school-issued device means hardware, software, devices, and accounts that a school district, acting independently or with a technology provider, provides to an individual student for dedicated student use.   

     

    General monitoring includes: keystrokes, web-browsing activity, AI education tools, chat data systems, etc.

    CMSD generally monitors these activities includes: technical support, legal compliance, stolen devices, student safety and security, compromised user accounts, email systems, etc.

    General monitor for preventing and responding to threats of life or safety in accordance with federal law under the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA, 2000).
