Dear CMSD Students, Parents and Caregivers:
School started for most of our students on Monday, Aug. 21, beginning a school year that we believe will see the District gain momentum and provide added proof of our promise that CMSD students and families “Get More.”
Last school year, we began rolling out investments that strengthen and enrich the CMSD Learning Experience. These included providing a device for every student, placing a full-time health professional in every building, expanding arts and music and launching career planning for all students.
This school year, we will:
- Finish phasing in Say Yes to Education support services in our schools.
- Add a new online system that gives parents easier access to their children’s school records.
- Use buses equipped with Wi-Fi.
- Continue installing interactive Clevertouch screens in classrooms.
If you haven’t yet enrolled in CMSD to take advantage of all we have to offer, visit our enrollment website – chooseCMSD.org – or call our enrollment hotline at 216-838-3675.
Sincerely,
Dr. Warren Morgan

Computers at Low Cost for Eligible CMSD Families
These days, a computer is more than just a tech device. It is a doorway to education, healthcare, employment, social connection, and more.
While students received a free device from CMSD for their schoolwork and educational needs, other family members may also need a dedicated computer. CMSD partners with PCs For People to make sure everyone can afford the technology they need to succeed.
Low-income families can obtain computers at a reduced cost from the nonprofit PCs for People. Desktops start at $25, and laptops start at $50. Recipients must have income below the 200 percent poverty level or be enrolled in an income-based government assistance program. Applicants must provide certain documents to verify their income eligibility.

Free & Discounted Internet Access
Students, Families and Staff may be eligible to receive free or reduced broadband Internet access.
Digital C and Spectrum
CMSD has partnered with Digital C and Spectrum to provide subsidized Internet at no cost to our families. These providers will determine if a student’s house meets the qualifications to free receive services.
If families are not qualified for the service, families have access to the Affordable Connectivity Program which helps low-income households pay for Internet.
The Affordable Connectivity Program
The Affordable Connectivity Program is a federal benefit program that helps families afford the broadband they need for school and work. The ACP provides a $30/month credit applied each month toward a family’s high-speed Internet bill. All CMSD families are eligible to participate.

Additional Ways to Keep Connected
EduLog Bus Transportation Tracker App
This new app, called EduLog, helps parents whose children ride yellow school buses, track when they get on and off the bus. Students simply swipe their ID Card upon entering or exiting the bus and the EduLog app records the information for the parents to monitor.
Wi-Fi on Yellow Buses
The Division of Information Technology and the Department of Transportation collaborated with several technology partners to install and enable Wi-Fi connectivity on CMSD's fleet of yellow buses that supports internet connectivity for students from home to school and back. The Wi-Fi connection has the same safety and security features as the Wi-Fi in CMSD school facilities.
Universal CMSD Student ID Card
The new CMSD Student ID card is used by students for many activities during their day at school and in some cases, for RTA transportation to and from school. The new photo IDs and RTA passes that the district purchases for older students will double as Cleveland Public Library cards.
Each card has a bar code that, when scanned, will allow students to take out books and access other library materials/resources like computers, printing, etc. Students who do not ride a bus will not be left out. CMSD-issued IDs include a bar code for all kindergarten to 12th-grade students. The new CMSD ID cards created more access and opportunities for our students.
