    Policy

    The Board transacts all business at official meetings of the Board.  These may be either regular or special meetings.  At the annual organizational meeting, the Board shall fix the time for holding its regular meetings for that calendar year.  Regular meetings shall be held at least once every two months, as provide by State law.  Special meetings are meetings called between regularly-scheduled meetings to consider specific topics.

    During the school year Board of Education meetings are typically held on two Tuesdays each month at 6:30 p.m. The first meeting of each month is a work session, held at the Board of Education Offices and devoted primarily to information gathering, discussion and deliberation on issues or topics for future Board business meetings. The second meeting of each month is a business meeting, held at various schools throughout the School District, devoted primarily with the consideration of and voting on Board resolutions, and provides an opportunity for public participation so that the Board may hear community ideas, suggestions and concerns.

    Robert’s Rules of Order (current edition), or such other resource approved by the Board, shall be used as a guideline by the Chair for meeting procedure.

    All regular and special meetings of the Board are open to the public, school personnel and members of the news media.  All Board meetings are publicized and conducted in compliance with the Sunshine Law, Ohio Revised Code Section 121.22.  The Board may change the time and location of any meeting, providing appropriate notice of any changes.  The Board encourages parents/guardians, families and community members to attend Board meetings.

     

    The Board Chair may, at the Chair’s discretion, amend any portion of the Board’s meeting procedure guidelines and may recess the meeting to preserve order.
